The bypass plate is a component of pressure washer unloader valve assemblies — part of the mechanism that routes water back to the inlet (bypass) when the trigger gun is released, sparing the pump from deadhead pressure. Plates in the unloader see constant cycling and pressure, and a worn, scored, or warped bypass plate can cause the unloader to stick, chatter, or fail to bypass, which spikes pressure or stalls flow.
