A chemical injector meters soap, acid, or degreaser into the water stream on the downstream (low-pressure) side of the pump, drawing chemical through a venturi effect created by the flow passing through a fixed or adjustable orifice. The orifice size in millimeters, matched to your pump's GPM range, sets how much chemical gets pulled in — too small an orifice for your flow under-draws chemical, too large over-draws it.

Injectors Buying Guide
Orifice size is matched to your GPM range
Injectors are sold by GPM range and orifice size together — for example a 2.3mm orifice for 5-8 GPM or a 1.8mm orifice for 2-3 GPM — because the venturi draw ratio depends on flow rate through that specific opening. Using an injector sized for a different GPM range than your pump changes the soap-to-water ratio from what the injector was designed to deliver.
Fixed vs. adjustable injectors
A fixed-orifice injector draws chemical at one set ratio determined by its orifice size. An adjustable injector (ADJ in the part name) has a metering screw that lets you dial the draw rate up or down within a range for that orifice, which is useful when switching between light rinse-aid ratios and stronger degreasing ratios without changing parts.
Acid injectors use different wetted materials
Injectors built for acid or caustic chemical service (marked "acid injector" in the listing) use wetted parts resistant to those chemicals; a standard soap injector's internals are not necessarily rated for acid service. Match the injector type to the chemical you're actually running, and flush with clean water after acid use to protect downstream seals.
Repair kits vs. full replacement
Injector repair kits (o-rings, check balls, and seats) restore a worn injector's draw without replacing the whole body, and are the cheaper fix when the housing itself is still sound. If the injector won't hold prime or draws inconsistently after a kit rebuild, the check valve seat or venturi body itself is likely worn and calls for full replacement.
Injectors FAQ
Why isn't my injector drawing chemical?
The most common causes are a clogged or worn orifice, a stuck or worn check valve/ball, a cracked pickup tube or strainer, or an orifice size mismatched to your pump's GPM. Check the strainer and pickup tube for cracks or clogs first — that's the easiest fix.
What orifice size do I need?
Match it to your pump's GPM range as listed on the injector — a 2-3 GPM machine wants roughly a 1.8mm orifice, 3-5 GPM wants roughly 2.1mm, and 5-8 GPM wants roughly 2.3mm on most fixed injectors. An adjustable injector gives you some range around that starting point.
Can I run acid through a standard soap injector?
Not recommended unless the listing specifically states acid-rated construction — acid attacks wetted parts that aren't built for it, shortening the injector's life and risking a chemical leak. Use an injector marked for acid injection when running acid or caustic chemicals.
