The CAT Pumps 25461 is a Buna-N crankcase oil seal for CAT 2SF-series plunger pumps and the model 250/260 pump (SKU 2886). It seats in the crankcase where the plunger rod exits, keeping crankcase oil in and pumped water and debris out. Buna-N (nitrile) rubber is the standard compound for this duty. Like any crankcase oil seal, it should be replaced when oil weeps from the crankcase or the crankcase oil turns milky, which can signal water intrusion past a worn seal.
