A Foster-profile quick-connect plug in steel with a 1/4-inch female pipe thread end — the most common accessory thread in pressure washing — and the Foster industrial-interchange nipple on the mating end. Built to the industrial-interchange standard — the most widely used interchange in industry — so it mates with Foster sockets and other makers' industrial-interchange couplers such as Dixon's DF-Series. Foster sockets are one-way shut-off: the socket is valved while the plug is unvalved, so the socket belongs on the pressure side of the line. Plated carbon steel is hard and wear-resistant, standing up to repeated coupling cycles, and the coating guards against rust in normal service.
