A Foster-profile quick-connect plug built to the industrial-interchange standard — the most widely used interchange in industry — so it mates with Foster sockets and other makers' industrial-interchange couplers such as Dixon's DF-Series. Foster sockets are one-way shut-off: the socket is valved while the plug is unvalved, so the socket belongs on the pressure side of the line. This stainless steel plug carries a 3/8-inch MPT (male pipe thread) end that threads onto the equipment, with the Foster industrial-interchange nipple profile on the mating end. Stainless steel resists rust and aggressive chemicals far better than steel or brass, the right pick for harsh or constant-wet service.
