This is the low-pressure seal for 6DX and 66DX model pumps — the inlet-side seal in each cylinder that handles feed-water pressure and keeps water from migrating past the plunger toward the crankcase. Low-pressure seals see less stress than the high-pressure packings, but they still wear from plunger friction and from debris or cavitation in the inlet water, and a failed LP seal shows up as weeping between the head and crankcase. It is serviced as part of a cylinder reseal alongside the high-pressure components. This seal is model-specific: confirm your pump is a 6DX or 66DX on the data plate before ordering.
